Why does tupperware stain

I have several Tupperware salt and pepper shakers from over the years and everyone that was for pepper are stained as are all the salt shakers for some reason very loose, I tried the baking soda for the pepper shaker tops and it didn't work but happily they fit better.

Sometimes soaking them in very hot water, drying and putting directly on the container can help with warping. Sometimes it's just age and time to order a new seal. I in heredity some older Tupperware, how do I recondition it? Once it's brittle there is no going back. It may be covered under the guarantee.
