Dominique Dafney. Shawn Davis. Tyler Davis. Josiah Deguara. Rasul Douglas. Quinton Dunbar. Kabion Ento. Innis Gaines. Tipa Galeai. Jonathan Garvin. Rashan Gary. Ladarius Hamilton. Jake Hanson. Jack Heflin. Kylin Hill. Shemar Jean-Charles. Elgton Jenkins.
Aaron Jones. Bronson Kaufusi. Kingsley Keke. Dennis Kelly. Those players are eligible to come back at a designated time during the season. Here is the official roster from the Packers website. Equanimeous St. Kurt Benkert. I thought that Benkert had a chance to make the 53 man roster. With the uncertainty after this year at QB and how well he did against the Jets, I thought that would have been enough. DT Jack Heflin making the Packers ' man roster is quite an accomplishment.
The undrafted Iowa product came out of nowhere and just played himself into a spot on the man roster. He made them keep him. Pretty remarkable. How many wide receivers will they keep? Who will win positional battles along the offensive line, linebacker, and safety? With tough decisions ahead, the Packers will likely make a couple of surprises. We see it every year. With that in mind, here are three veteran players who could surprisingly miss out on the 53, either by being cut or traded.
The Packers might be tempted to keep four running backs, but the better bet is retaining either Dexter Williams or Patrick Taylor on the practice squad. This one simplified fast when Devin Funchess went to injured reserve and Malik Taylor dominated the preseason. Reggie Begelton or Juwann Winfree could return on the practice squad for extra depth at receiver. Maybe Kaufusi returns to work on his conversion to tight end on the practice squad.
The cost here is sending Cole Van Lanen to waivers, hoping for a return on the practice squad. This would be a deep and experienced offensive line even if Bakhtiari has to miss a few games. Heflin was terrific throughout the preseason and earned a roster spot. He could push Lancaster, a similar player, off the team, but I think the Packers play it safe again and keep both.
Newcomer Abdullah Anderson might be worth keeping on the practice squad.
