The infected humans do not become zombies and retain their normal appearance. However, its depiction in the film is different, since in the games it doesn't typically grant immunity to injuries. There is one exception though, a type of enemy called the Regenerador that has multiple parasites implanted; it can quickly heal and regenerate, but it looks only vaguely human in the games. This is the first time in Resident Evil history that Jill and Leon have ever met. Canon or otherwise. The original plan of Paul W.
Anderson was to film this movie simultaneously with the upcoming sixth installment in the series, making essentially a two part finale. In the early stages of development Ali Larter and Wentworth Miller were slated to be included in the cast list. When the studio backed out of the concerted filming for two movies, Claire and Chris Redfield were scrapped from the production plans and the filmmakers made it clear that "Resident Evil: Retribution" would be a standalone film.
The only carryover from the initial conception is the tagline which bills the 5th film as the beginning of the end. Although Carlos Olivera has a major role in the plot, Oded Fehr 's name is curiously absent from the opening titles.
Jensen Ackles was considered for the role of Leon S. Kennedy, but the role later went to Johann Urb. Matthew Mercer who voiced Leon S. Kennedy from the games and the voice used for the audition's reference audio, tried out for the role and didn't get it.
He still finds the situation hilarious to this day. The helicopter belonged to the local news station. Unlike the films, Barry and Leon are not partners. In fact, Barry and Leon have not appeared together in any canon-games or the CGI movies set in the same world as the games. Barry is a very close friend to the Redfield family Chris and Claire especially.
Chris and Leon know each other through Claire Redfield. However, they first appear together in Resident Evil 6 , where the two already know each other. Every other Resident Evil film had a different composer for the soundtrack. This is however the first time that the music was written by the same people in two consecutive films.
Despite the fact that it is one of the first scenes in the film, Alice's fall in the water was one of the last sequences to be filmed. There was an extra shot of Jill Valentine and Umbrella soldiers pulling Alice out of the water which was cut in the editing process.
The idea of using environmental simulations references the 4th game based novel Resident Evil Underworld, where there were 4 environmental simulations; a forest, a desert, a mountain, and a city. Alice and Becky and especially the scene which Alice frees Becky from a cocoon was written as an obvious nod to Aliens , mostly the characters of Ripley and Newt and the scene which Ripley frees Newt from a cocoon in the confrontation with the Alien Queen.
This homage was criticized by fans and critics, because it contradicted previously established behavior of the lickers. They have never been shown to kidnap their victims and cocoon them, as they attack and immediately kill any lifeforms they encounter indiscriminately. There are 3 scenes from Resident Evil: Afterlife that were reused in this movie: 1. J-pop girl attacking Japanese businessman 2. The scene showing A serum flowing through Alice's veins 3.
The Ospreys approaching the Arcadia to attack. According to the script, the chronology of the film's events allegedly take place some weeks after the end of Resident Evil: Afterlife Leon and Ada are the only Resident Evil couple to debut together and have their romance hinted at in the films. Nearly all Resident Evil games feature a platonic couple with romantic hints.
User reviews Review. Top review. No plot, No story but lots of action. Simply a mindless action movie. Let me put this simply as I can, this is a mindless action movie. I think Paul W. Anderson the director and writer was starting to run out of ideas and it shows, but I personally liked it because we had some of the same characters we already knew and I think it sort of works manly for the action.
The action scenes were great, the film makes no sense at all mind you, but mostly works because it's action scenes. Put simply, it's inconsistent in story for whatever reasons, I think some people that are fans of these films said there was more story from what I remember, but it was scrapped because "Sony" the studio I guess didn't like it, and they wanted it as a mindless action movie? I think? Also it's just fun seeing her kick zombie ass in slow motion, from what I remember she is in some kind of facility of Umbrella's and she has to get out for whatever reasons, that's basically the plot.
Most may not like it but I did, for me, I'm an action fan and a fan of this series, it really hit the spot, this one delivers action unlike the others.
Not great in story but satisfying in action. If your a fan of these films give it a look. It's the last decent one. RoboRabbit89 Mar 20, FAQ What is 'Resident Evil: Retribution' about? However the characters have no problem with low temperature since they only wear evening dresses, no hats etc. Funnily the strike team wears bare t-shirts right after entering the elevator. However, the diameter of a quarter is 0. In addition, not only would a projectile such as this never penetrate an armored windshield as is found on tilt-rotor aircraft, the glass "spider-webs" with high energy impacts due to layered plastic laminates, and doesn't shatter, like plate glass would.
At around 12m, the car Alice and her daughter are in gets hit by a truck and flips over. That kind of an impact should have cause the car spin instead of flipping up. The bullets bounce off the car's trunk, while in reality they would go through killing the passengers. Even if coins could be fired from a 12 gauge shotgun, their ranges and ballistic impacts would be a mere fraction of traditional shotgun ammunition.
If anything, they would be wildly inaccurate farther than a few feet, they would likely impact targets along their faces rather their penetrative edges and they would likely shatter from force of the initial shot.
The number of bullets vs their effectiveness seems to vary from scene to scene.
