Found the story interesting? The fallout from Jon Gruden's emails continues to be fierce as the football world comes to terms with its content. Gruden was essentially forced to resign from his position as Las Vegas Raiders head coach on Monday night and now the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have removed the former head coach from their Ring of Honor. After leading the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a record during the regular season in , Gruden defeated the Oakland Raiders to win the team's first-ever Super Bowl.
The game has been given multiple names, with "The Gruden Bowl" being one of the most popular ones. Gruden was head coach of the Raiders between and but was then traded to the Buccaneers in The game is called "The Pirate Bowl" because both franchises have pirate-themed names. A New York Times report revealed that Gruden sent multiple emails with misogynistic, racist and homophobic language to former Washington Football Team president Bruce Allen.
House Oversight and Reform Committee wants to learn more about the Washington Football Team workplace investigation that resulted in a leak of emails that triggered the abrupt resignation of Raiders coach Jon Gruden.
The NFL also secures significant public funding for stadiums, generates billions from public interest in the product, and enjoys a Congressionally-granted exemption from antitrust liability for broadcast negotiations. Krishnamoorthi alluded to the latter in his comments to Keim. NBC Sports. Carolyn B. Maloney D-N. However, the league has said nothing about cooperating with the request that a wide range of documents and information be provided. I am a currently practicing attorney.
In order to read , emails as part of an investigation, a small law firm like Wilkinson Walsh with less than 20 associates who do the grunt work would have to hire an outside firm to assist. At a rate of emails per day, a team of 20 doc reviewers would take about 3 months to get through the whole stack while identifying and flagging emails responsive to the sexual harassment investigation.
It is possible, but not likely, that the law firm in question did all the review work themselves. As such, the circle of people that read the emails is larger than anyone thinks.
The reason that the emails came to light is because the rogue employee wanted them to. The NFL did not release those emails, and I bet more are coming. MortimerInMiami says: October 16, at pm Gruden has a heck of a lawsuit should he wish to pursue, the settlement would be off the charts.
You need not look farther than with the Raiders in Las Vegas. And, with legal gambling more than ever before. The NFL had possession of these emails since June. The outrage directed at Gruden for use of this language by the NFL, no way to think more it as manufactured. Incredibly unlikely only 1 individual had damaging emails in a pool of , When you add in the Scheftfer and Allen middle school romance, I become even more curious what the remaining emails hold. How about this? Get your popcorn ready.
One has to believe there are equally or more egregious emails within the , the NFL has from the WFT organization. The rest was leaked when Gruden survived the first leak. He had the ammo and he ruined Gruden for the insolence. When Mark proved he could make the raiders successful the league got insulted and waited for their opportunity and so it arrived!!
Good riddance to bad rubbish Gruden. Fairly clear someone who works or worked until recently because they just made an announcement, no other team executive level people will be exposed.
If you act badly today, you should be punished, but not for boorish behavior that was not illegal in the past. I think its a mistreatment of people to fire them because of things they said many years ago. If someone committed a crime and went to prison they may be treated better than someone who made some dumb comments in the past from an era that behavior like that was tolerated. Imo the 1 reason is due to the fact the email issue surfaced right before the vote for De Smith to continue to keep his job or not.
That leads me to believe that someone in the raiders organization or possibly the nfl who is in tight with De Smith leaked the info at the perfect time to affect the vote.
So I would be looking for who at the raiders both has ties to De Smith and either has a grudge against Gruden or somehow stands to gain by his ousting. If there is no one at the raiders who fits that description then I would look for the same thing at the nfl management level or other parties who would gain from it. Are owners who had the knowledge and are competing with the raiders above suspicion? Imagine if we could have such a probing investigation into things more important than the NFL every once in a while too, and demand answers from those in control.
So , emails were reviewed? By my calculations, it would take 50 people, reviewing 1 email per minute, working 12 hour days with no breaks whatsoever, over 18 days to accomplish this task.
Was this firm from Krypton? More lunacy. Jon Gruden is simply a red herring, which has been used by powerful corrupt people, since before the time of Christ. Raiders owner says ask NFL why the letting go of Gruden. Something is very fishy, if Godel is involved maybe we have the answer.
Everything anyone gets punished for is in the past. These were not private emails. They did that because the NFL was clearly shown to be an enemy of social justice re Kappernick. I have not heard from ESPN. He worked for them at the time. What is their take?
I wonder what claim you think Gruden has. He has no privacy rights in emails he sent to Bruce Allen or anyone else except maybe his lawyer, wife or clergy. He has no defamation claims against the press that reported the emails. He made his own bed here. And bear in mind, he publicly resigned; no mention of being fired. And to those who think he got a raw deal, I submit that the reported series of emails not just one present a disgraceful portrait of someone who held racist, misogynistic, and anti-gay attitudes that directly conflict with the values that the NFL claims to hold and absolutely should hold.
Is the NFL acting hypocritically here? But it and its teams need to take positions that coincide with its stated values. Maybe some day all its owners will genuinely embrace those values. We have lost the ability to distinguish between saying offensive things and actively oppressing others. This micro-aggression garbage is cancer. Regardless of who leaked the emails and what their motivations were, do you actually believe that the CEO Gruden had control over roster decisions and on field activities of this organization should have stayed in his position even though the comments occurred many years ago?
Good luck addressing a locker room full of players with diverse racial backgrounds.
